Here is my story below...
Career and life transition has marked my journey and my skills, interests, passions and talents have evolved and changed with me. I graduated with my bachelor’s degrees in Sociology and Spanish during a recession. I landed a job in high tech and worked my way up from administration into marketing. But, I yearned for more meaning and a deeper sense of purpose.
I pivoted into higher education where I grew into a leadership position, directing the summer session - which I loved. Still single in my thirties, I had unfulfilled career, life and financial goals. So, I completed an MBA while building my career. Shortly after graduation, I got married and life quickly changed!
We had a baby and he had a health condition. I returned to work part-time, allowing me the flexibility to care for him. We moved to live near family, and to further my husband’s career, during the recession of 2008. Finding part-time, professional work was challenging. I volunteered and fundraised, which later became marketable experience, and prevailed in finding a development position at a non-profit, environmental law firm. During this time, I also changed my diet and began exercising daily for a healthier lifestyle. We dreamed of expanding our family, but faced challenges. Eventually, my son grew stronger and outgrew his condition.
Reinventing myself and my career yet again, I returned to work full time when he was 9 as a coach and campaign specialist at a non-profit that raised funds for children who needed life-saving transplants. It was fulfilling to make a difference. But, I longed to return to my university career. I was introduced to a career coach who inspired ME to become a coach and helped me to break into a competitive, Big Ten university position, where I worked as a career coach and instructor. I also began my own coaching business. Covid was a game changer and I became a single mom of a teen as well as earned a promotion to Associate Director, executive coaching and instructing MBA students and alumni - embracing change and reinventing my life yet again.
